Who We Are
Our Vision
We long to see people and communities transformed by the power of the gospel, with a wholehearted love for God and others.
Our Mission
We are committed to moving toward Jesus together, becoming like him in how we engage our community and world.
Our Values
Truth and Grace
Just as Jesus was full of truth and grace (John 1:14), so we desire to be a church grounded in truth and abundant in grace.
Compassion
Just as Jesus showed compassion toward the broken, weary, and those on the margins of society, we too must have compassion for our neighbors by alleviating suffering, working toward justice, and seeking flourishing communities.
Deep and Diverse Fellowship
Jesus intentionally cultivated meaningful relationships with people from all walks of life, so we too want to pursue deep relationships with one another and strive toward building a church that reflects the diversity of our broader community.
Dignifying All
Jesus engaged others according to their inherent worth as images of God, so we want to be a church that embraces the God-given dignity of all people, celebrates gifts, and helps people pursue all that God calls them to be.
Invitational
As we move toward Jesus together, we want to emulate his invitational lifestyle because we believe the gospel is good news for everyone.
Our Beliefs
Manhattan Covenant Church is a church plant of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
The Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) is a rapidly growing multi-ethnic denomination in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants, the ECC values the Bible as the Word of God, the gift of God's grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through faith in Jesus Christ, the importance of extending God's love and compassion to a hurting world, and the strength that comes from unity within diversity.
The ECC upholds six foundational affirmations:
We affirm the centrality of the Word of God.
We affirm the necessity of the new birth.
We affirm a commitment to the whole mission of the church.
We affirm the church as a fellowship of believers.
We affirm a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit.
We affirm the reality of freedom in Christ.
You can read more about our beliefs here.

Our Pastor
Amanda Braun
Originally from the suburbs of St. Louis, I am a KU alum living in a K-State world. I spent about 10 years working in youth ministry in a variety of contexts before I married my husband Ross and started having kids. In the fall of 2023, I began praying about what ministry role God might have for me as my kids started to get older, and eventually I felt a clear call to look into planting a Covenant church in our own city of Manhattan, where Ross is a professor at K-State and where we plan to stay. I simply began following God with each step, and here we are now! I have an MA in Youth & Family Ministries from Denver Seminary and hold a Bi-Vocational Ministry License from the Evangelical Covenant Church. My other vocation is Mom! Ross and I have three kids, and you can find our family around town at the zoo, the parks, the library, the pools, the nature trails, or the sports fields. We love Manhattan!
